Description

The Knightsbridge GDM150IBC is a 2-way intelligent dimmer module with a brushed chrome rotary control knob and a dark grey grid module body marked 'TOP' for correct orientation during installation. The module fits Knightsbridge grid wiring systems including Screwless, Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metal Clad ranges, occupying a single grid position within a multi-gang grid plate.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where lighting loads vary, the dimmer supports 10-150W incandescent and halogen lamps, 10-150W low-voltage halogen with electronic transformers, and 5-150W dimmable LED lamps. The intelligent circuit auto-detects leading edge or trailing edge loads, removing the need for manual configuration switches. Push the rotary knob to toggle on/off, and rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise to adjust brightness from 0-100%. The 2-way rating allows the dimmer to be wired into a 2-way lighting circuit alongside a conventional 2-way switch elsewhere in the room.

The module includes overload protection, over-temperature protection and an inrush current limiter to handle the initial power surge when incandescent or halogen lamps are switched on. The brushed chrome knob provides a mid-tone metallic finish that pairs with both warm and cool interior palettes. The module requires a 35mm minimum back box depth and occupies 25mm of width within the grid frame. Knightsbridge recommends a maximum of 10-12 lamps per dimmer to maintain optimal performance and component longevity, particularly when dimming multiple high-wattage halogen or LED loads.

What does 2-way dimming mean?

2-way dimming allows this module to be wired into a 2-way lighting circuit where a second switch (typically a conventional 2-way rocker switch) is located elsewhere in the room. Both switches can turn the light on or off, but only the dimmer module controls brightness.

How many lamps can it control?
