Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical boxes behind a polished chrome faceplate with a rounded edge profile. The plate measures 146.5mm wide by 85.75mm high with a 7.5mm projection from the wall, fitting standard 2-gang back boxes and providing a finished appearance where sockets or switches have been removed or where boxes were installed but never connected.

Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installation, the blanking plate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a built-in gasket that seals against the back box to prevent dust ingress. The plate includes an earth terminal for continuity of protective bonding across the back box, meeting Class I requirements. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations but not for bathrooms, kitchens or outdoor use where moisture contact is possible.

The polished chrome finish provides a high-gloss metallic surface that reflects light and pairs with other polished chrome wiring accessories in the same room. The rounded edge profile softens the transition between the plate and the wall compared to square-edged alternatives, giving a more contemporary appearance. The plate is certified to IEC 60670-1 and carries a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

When would you use a blanking plate?

Blanking plates cover unused electrical boxes where sockets or switches have been removed during rewiring, or where back boxes were installed during construction but connections were never completed. They maintain a finished appearance and prevent dust or debris entering the back box.

Does the blanking plate need to be earthed?

Yes. The plate includes an earth terminal that should be connected to the earth conductor in the back box to maintain protective bonding continuity across the installation. This is a Class I requirement.

What's the difference between rounded edge and flat edge?

Rounded edge plates have a gently curved profile that transitions more smoothly from the wall surface, giving a softer contemporary appearance. Flat edge plates sit flush with a sharper perimeter edge and suit traditional or minimalist schemes.

Can this be used in bathrooms or kitchens?

The IP20 rating means the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It should not be used in zones where direct water contact is possible, such as bathroom zones 1-2 or above kitchen sinks.
