Description

The Knightsbridge 16A industrial plug features a 2-pole + earth configuration rated for 240V connections, housed in a blue and white polycarbonate body with an IP44 rating against dust ingress and water splashes. The three brass pins are arranged in the standard IEC 60309-2 layout, with the earth pin positioned to engage first on insertion and disengage last on removal.

Designed for construction sites, temporary events, workshops and outdoor installations where standard 13A domestic plugs would not provide adequate protection or current capacity, the plug handles loads up to 3,840W continuous at 240V. The IP44 rating allows use in exposed outdoor locations where rain or spray contact is possible, though the plug should not be submerged or left in standing water. The blue colour coding indicates single-phase 240V in the IEC colour convention, distinguishing it from yellow 110V industrial connectors on multi-voltage sites.

The polycarbonate body measures 122mm long by 51mm diameter and uses a screw-down cable entry gland to grip the incoming cable sheath, providing strain relief that prevents the cable being pulled free under tension. Internal brass terminals accept cable conductors up to 4mm² cross-section. The body splits into two halves for wiring access, secured by two captive screws that cannot be fully removed and lost during installation or maintenance.
