Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket adds two USB-A charging ports behind a polished chrome rounded edge faceplate with a white insert. The single-pole switching breaks the live conductor when the socket is switched off, with each outlet rated at 13A for standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per socket.

Designed for residential, office and hospitality installation, the socket fits a standard 25-35mm back box depth depending on wiring configuration and cable entry. The rounded edge design uses a built-in gasket between the faceplate and wall surface to create a clean, flush finish without visible gaps. The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-bright metallic surface that pairs with contemporary, modern and transitional interiors.

The dual USB-A ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output between connected devices, allowing simultaneous charging of smartphones, tablets and other USB-compatible electronics without occupying the main 13A outlets. The white insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and provides contrast to the outlet apertures. The socket is certified to BS1363-2:2016, EN 62368-1, EN 62680-1-1, EMC and ErP standards, with Class I earthing and IP20 rating suitable for dry indoor locations.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25-35mm back box depth is needed, with the exact requirement depending on cable entry position and the number of cables entering the back box. Most standard installations use a 25mm box, but deeper boxes may be needed where multiple cables enter.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB-A ports provide 5V DC at 2.4A shared output. When two devices are connected, the 2.4A is divided between them. This is suitable for charging most smartphones and tablets but may charge slower than dedicated fast-charge adapters.

What's the difference between SP and DP switching?

SP (single-pole) switching breaks only the live conductor when the socket is switched off. DP (double-pole) switching breaks both live and neutral. SP switching is standard for most domestic applications and meets UK wiring regulations for socket outlets.

Can the polished chrome tarnish over time?

Polished chrome is more resistant to tarnishing than polished brass, but fingerprints and water marks are more visible on the mirror-bright surface. Wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain the finish. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that can scratch the chrome plating.
