Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket adds one USB-A and one USB-C charging port behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a black insert. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, while the USB charging ports remain independently powered for continuous device charging.

Designed for residential, office and hospitality installation, the socket fits a standard 25-35mm back box depth depending on wiring configuration, and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The 13A rating per outlet handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W. The dual USB ports provide a shared 5V DC 4.0A output, allowing simultaneous charging of two devices such as phones, tablets or wireless earbuds without occupying the 13A outlets.

The brushed chrome finish provides a cooler metallic accent than brass, pairing well with contemporary, industrial and cooler-toned interiors. The black insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The premium-grade steel construction and IP20 rating suit dry indoor environments including living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and offices. A 25-35mm back box depth is required depending on wiring configuration. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB ports provide a shared 5V DC 4.0A output. This allows simultaneous charging of two devices, with the total current divided between the two ports depending on device draw.

What's the difference between SP and DP switching?

SP (single-pole) switching isolates only the live line when switched off, while the USB ports remain powered. DP (dual-pole) switching would isolate both live and neutral lines. For most residential installations, SP switching is sufficient and standard.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
