Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket provides two switched outlets with twin earth terminals behind a brushed chrome flat plate with a black insert. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a flat plate design with a built-in gasket that sits 2.5mm proud of the wall surface once installed. This ultra-low profile gives a cleaner finish than traditional raised plates and the brushed chrome faceplate provides a directional grain that softens reflections under daylight. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

The twin earth terminals allow for ring-main continuity where required by BS 7671 wiring regulations, providing a second earthing point for daisy-chained socket circuits. The black insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel with a brushed finish that pairs well with stainless steel kitchen appliances, chrome bathroom fittings and contemporary grey or white interiors.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds only 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving an ultra-low profile finish.

What are twin earth terminals used for?

Twin earth terminals allow for ring-main continuity where required by BS 7671 wiring regulations. This provides a second earthing point for daisy-chained socket circuits, which is a requirement in some commercial and domestic installations.

What does double-pole switching mean?

Double-pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, rather than just the live line. This provides additional safety for high-draw appliances and is preferred in kitchens and workshops.

Is the flat plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The flat plate is fixed to the back box with screws and can be removed for painting around the socket and refitted without re-wiring. The built-in gasket helps maintain a flush seal with the wall surface.
