Description

The Knightsbridge FPR9000BB is a 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with twin earth terminals behind a brushed brass flat plate with a black insert. The flat plate design sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall surface, creating an ultra-low-profile installation that minimises projection and gives a clean, contemporary finish.

Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation, the socket uses double-pole switching that isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances. The twin earth terminals provide increased security in multi-circuit installations and comply with BS 1363:2 British safety standards. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel with a brushed brass finish that shows a subtle linear grain texture, providing a warm metallic accent that pairs well with both traditional and contemporary interiors. The black insert behind the brass faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and defines the edge of each outlet aperture. The socket requires a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and includes an integrated gasket around the plate edge to prevent dust ingress behind the faceplate.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds only 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, making this one of the slimmest socket profiles available.

What does double-pole switching mean?

Double-pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, rather than just the live line as in single-pole switches. This provides additional safety when disconnecting high-draw appliances like washing machines or tumble dryers.

Why twin earth terminals?

Twin earth terminals allow two separate earth cables to be connected to the same socket, which is useful in ring circuits or multi-circuit installations where the earth continuity needs to be maintained across multiple outlets.

How does the flat plate differ from screwless plates?

Flat plates are fixed directly to the back box with visible screws on the faceplate (typically matching the finish). Screwless plates use a separate sub-frame to hide the fixings. Both styles are available in Knightsbridge's range — the flat plate offers a slimmer 2.5mm projection versus the screwless cover's thicker profile.
