Description

The Knightsbridge CL9PCW is a 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with twin earth terminals, housed behind a polished chrome rounded-edge faceplate with a white insert. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances and devices where complete isolation is required.

Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a premium-grade steel construction with a polished chrome finish that reflects light and pairs well with both contemporary and traditional interiors. The white insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture, while the rounded-edge profile includes an integrated gasket to sit flush against the wall.

The twin earth terminals support high-integrity earthing requirements where multiple earth connections are needed per outlet, such as in installations with metal back boxes or where earthing continuity must be maintained across multiple accessories. The socket is certified to BS 1363:2 and carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds approximately 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of around 32.5mm from the finished wall surface.

What is the difference between this and a screwless socket?

This is a screw-fixed socket where the faceplate is attached directly to the back box with visible fixing screws at each corner. Screwless versions use a separate sub-frame and clip-on cover plate with no visible screws on the finished surface. Both meet the same electrical standards, but the aesthetic finish differs.

What does 'twin earth' mean?

Twin earth terminals provide two separate earth connection points within the socket, allowing for high-integrity earthing where multiple earth conductors need to be connected. This is useful in installations with metal back boxes or where earthing continuity must be maintained across multiple accessories on the same circuit.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces the rounded-edge CL series in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
