Description

The Knightsbridge CL9PC is a 13A 2-gang DP switched socket with twin earth terminals, finished in polished chrome with a black insert and a rounded edge plate. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances up to 3,120W per outlet.

Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a rounded edge plate with a built-in gasket that sits flush against the wall. The twin earth terminals provide high-integrity earthing for installations requiring two separate earth connections, which is common in older or retrofitted UK properties where multiple earth paths are maintained for safety.

The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like metallic surface that pairs well with contemporary, Art Deco and modern classical interiors. What are twin earth terminals and when are they needed?

Twin earth terminals provide two separate earth connections within a single socket. This is required in some older UK installations where multiple earth paths are maintained for high-integrity earthing, or in retrofitted installations where the original earth and a supplementary bond earth need to be connected at the outlet point. Most modern installations only require a single earth terminal.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The rounded edge plate adds 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does DP switching mean?

DP (dual-pole) switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching which only breaks the live conductor. This is particularly useful for appliances that remain plugged in when not in use, such as washing machines or high-power kitchen equipment.

How is the polished chrome finish maintained?

Wipe the faceplate with a soft microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints and dust. For more stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes which can scratch the mirror finish.
