Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP switched socket pairs a polished chrome rounded-edge faceplate with a black insert and matching metal rocker switch. The double-pole switch isolates both live and neutral conductors when turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for appliances that draw higher loads or remain plugged in long-term.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses premium-grade steel construction with a Class I earth terminal. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 2,990W. The rounded edge profile offers a softer visual alternative to square-edged plates in contemporary and transitional interiors.

The polished chrome finish provides a bright, reflective surface that pairs well with chrome taps, door handles and light fittings in kitchens, bathrooms (subject to zone restrictions) and living areas. The black insert behind the faceplate conceals the back of the outlet aperture, creating a defined edge around the plug point. The rocker switch is metal rather than plastic, matching the faceplate finish. Knightsbridge backs this socket with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The rounded-edge faceplate adds 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does double-pole switching mean?

Double-pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety compared to single-pole switches that only break the live conductor. This is particularly useful for high-draw appliances or devices that remain plugged in when not in use.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means this socket is suitable for dry indoor locations only. UK bathroom zones require IP44 or higher for sockets. This socket can be installed in bathrooms only if positioned outside the defined wet zones and at least 3m from the edge of a bath or shower tray.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this rounded-edge style in multiple finishes including brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
