Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP switched socket uses a flat plate design in gunmetal finish with a black insert behind the outlet aperture. The plate projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, giving a lower profile than standard sockets. A matching gunmetal metal rocker controls the double-pole switch, which isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off.
Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses premium-grade steel construction. The flat plate attaches with two visible fixing screws at the top and bottom edge — this is a traditional screw-fixed plate rather than a screwless clip-on design. The gunmetal finish provides a darker metallic tone between brushed steel and matt black, pairing well with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors.
The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the socket mechanism and gives a defined edge to the outlet aperture, maintaining visual consistency when nothing is plugged in. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 2,990W. The socket is BS 1363:2 certified and carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty. The IP20 rating means it is suitable for dry indoor locations only — not for bathrooms, outdoor use or areas exposed to water.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds only 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, making it one of the lowest-profile socket designs available from Knightsbridge.
Is this a screwless plate?
No. The flat plate is fixed with two visible screws at the top and bottom edge. Knightsbridge offers screwless variants in other ranges if a completely screw-free finish is required.
What does the gunmetal finish look like?
Gunmetal is a dark metallic grey, sitting tonally between brushed steel and matt black. It has a subtle sheen rather than a polished shine, and pairs well with industrial-style interiors, exposed brick, concrete and monochrome colour schemes.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable for dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require sockets with shaver supply units or IP-rated enclosures depending on the zone.
