Description

This 1300W quartz heater tube is a 254mm R7s double-ended shortwave infrared lamp designed as a replacement for Knightsbridge HEOD1309BK and HEOD1309W patio heaters. The tungsten filament inside a clear glass tube produces shortwave infrared radiation that heats objects and people directly rather than warming the air, making it more efficient outdoors where convection heat is quickly lost.

Designed for outdoor and indoor heating applications where instant warmth is needed, the tube fits standard R7s ceramic sockets spaced 254mm apart. The shortwave IR output reaches full intensity within seconds of being switched on, making it suitable for patios, terraces, workshop areas and covered outdoor commercial spaces where intermittent use is common. The IP20 rating means the lamp itself is not water-resistant and must be used inside a protective housing rated for the intended environment.

The clear glass tube allows maximum transmission of infrared radiation, with the tungsten filament visible as a bright orange glow when energised. The 1300W rating on 230V mains gives approximately 3,000 hours of use before replacement is needed. The R7s base uses a recessed contact at each end, secured by spring clips or threaded collars in the heater housing, allowing the tube to be replaced without rewiring.
