12W IP54 CCT Adjustable Surface Mounted Downlight - White

This surface mounted downlight fixes flat to the ceiling rather than dropping into a cut hole, so there is no plasterboard to saw and no void to find above it. That makes it useful on concrete ceilings, garage soffits and anywhere the joists sit in the wrong place for a recessed fitting. The LED sits behind a curved opal diffuser in a round white body and draws 12W to give 1090 lumens. Colour temperature is adjustable, so one fitting can be set warm or cool without ordering a different version.

The IP54 rating means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction, and that is what earns it bathroom zones 2 and 3: the area beyond the bath or shower, and the rest of the room. Can I put this in a bathroom?

Do I need to cut a hole in the ceiling?

No. This is a surface mounted fitting, so it screws to the face of the ceiling and the cable feeds in behind it. That suits concrete, tiled or awkwardly joisted ceilings where a recessed downlight will not go.

Which colour temperatures can I choose?

The fitting is CCT adjustable, so the light can be switched between warmer and cooler settings. The manufacturer does not publish the Kelvin figures for each setting, so check the selector on the fitting itself.

What sort of dimmer does it need?

A trailing edge LED dimmer is the usual choice. Check the dimmer's minimum load as well as its maximum, because a single 12W fitting on its own can sit below the threshold of some older dimmers.

Does it take a separate bulb?
