Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX fan isolator switch provides triple-pole isolation for bathroom extractor fans, utility room ventilation and other fan units where separate switching from the lighting circuit is required. The switch cuts power to the fan independently while leaving the lighting circuit active, allowing the fan to be serviced or replaced without affecting the room lights.
Designed for bathrooms, en-suites, utility rooms and kitchens, the switch mounts in a standard single-gang back box with a minimum depth of 16mm. The ultra-flat plate projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, making it suitable for tight spaces behind furniture or where a low-profile finish is preferred. The switch is rated at 10A on 230V circuits, handling standard residential extractor fan loads.
The pearl finish is a soft off-white metallic tone with a subtle sheen, sitting between pure white and brushed steel in appearance. The premium-grade steel construction includes a matching metal rocker and an integrated gasket that sits between the plate and the wall, reducing dust ingress. The switch carries EN 60669-1 and EN 60669-2-4 certification and is backed by a 25-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked
What is a triple-pole fan isolator?
A triple-pole isolator switches all three circuit lines (live, neutral, and the switched live to the fan) simultaneously, providing complete isolation from the mains when in the off position. This allows fan units to be serviced or replaced safely without turning off the lighting circuit or the consumer unit.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm back box depth is required. The flat plate design needs less depth than standard switches, making it suitable for shallow wall cavities or where plasterboard depth is limited.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The switch carries an IP20 rating and is designed for typical bathroom installation outside zones 0, 1 and 2 (i.e. not within reach of a shower or bath). It is commonly fitted at ceiling height or on a wall adjacent to the bathroom door to control extractor fans.
What other finishes are available in the Flat Plate range?
Knightsbridge produces the ultra-flat plate range in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, matt black, white and pearl. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
