Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 4-gang 2-way plate switch provides four independent rocker switches on a single brushed chrome faceplate, each rated at 10A and wired for 2-way control. The square-edge metal plate measures 149.3mm wide by 89mm high, with a 10.5mm projection from the wall once fitted to a standard 16mm minimum back box.

Designed for multi-zone lighting control in hallways, open-plan living spaces, and commercial premises, the 2-way wiring allows each circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations. This configuration suits stairs, long corridors, and larger rooms where lighting needs to be switched at entry and exit points. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W per gang on 230V supply, sufficient for multiple LED downlights or halogen circuits.

The brushed chrome finish provides a directional grain that reduces fingerprint visibility and pairs with both warm and cool-toned interiors. The premium-grade steel construction includes a built-in gasket that provides basic dust ingress protection behind the plate, though the IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments only. The plate fixes to the back box with visible screws at either end of the faceplate.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way mean?

2-way wiring allows each lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations. This requires a matching 2-way switch at the other end of the circuit, or an intermediate switch if controlling from three or more positions.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed. This shallow requirement suits stud walls and plasterboard installations where deeper boxes would protrude through the rear of the wall.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating limits this switch to dry indoor environments only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones where splash protection is required.

What load can each gang handle?

Each gang is rated at 10A on 230V supply, handling up to 2,300W per circuit. This suits typical domestic lighting loads including multiple LED downlights, halogen lamps, or standard ceiling fittings.
