Description
The Knightsbridge M4000 is a 10AX 3-gang 2-way switch housed in a powder-coated premium-grade steel enclosure, supplied complete with a matching metal back box. The 10AX rating handles resistive loads up to 2,300W per gang on 230V mains, suitable for controlling multiple lighting circuits or other switched loads in industrial, commercial and utility applications.
Designed for surface mounting in workshops, garages, plant rooms, commercial kitchens and outdoor covered areas where concealed wiring is not practical, the metal-clad construction provides impact resistance beyond standard plastic faceplates. The integrated back box eliminates the need for separate wall preparation, and the unit can be screwed directly to masonry, blockwork or timber substrates. All three gangs operate as 2-way switches, allowing control of the same circuit from two locations when paired with another 2-way switch elsewhere.
The 82mm square faceplate sits 45mm proud of the mounting surface when installed, creating a total projection of approximately 50mm including fixings. The powder-coated grey finish resists corrosion and wear in damp or dusty environments, though the IP20 rating limits the unit to dry indoor locations and covered outdoor areas where it is protected from direct water ingress. Screw terminals accept up to 2.5mm² cable and the unit includes an earth terminal for Class I earthing.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way switching mean?
2-way switching allows the same lighting circuit or load to be controlled from two different locations. To achieve this, you pair this 3-gang 2-way switch with another 2-way switch elsewhere in the circuit, wired using 3-core and earth cable between the two switches.
Can this be used outdoors?
The IP20 rating limits the switch to dry indoor locations or covered outdoor areas where it is fully protected from rain, hose-down and direct water ingress. It is not rated for exposed outdoor use.
Is a back box required?
No. The unit is supplied complete with an integrated metal back box, allowing it to be surface-mounted directly to masonry, blockwork or timber without additional preparation.
What cable size can the terminals accept?
The screw terminals accept up to 2.5mm² cable, which is standard for UK lighting and small power circuits. An earth terminal is included for Class I earthing.
