Description

The Knightsbridge M2000 is a 10AX 1-gang 2-way switch in metal clad construction, combining the faceplate and back box in a single pressed steel housing with a powder-coated finish. The 2-way switching allows the switch to control a light or circuit from one of two locations when paired with a second 2-way switch elsewhere on the circuit.

Designed for garages, workshops, outbuildings, plant rooms and commercial installations where surface-mounted switches are required or where the wall construction does not allow flush mounting, the metal clad housing provides impact resistance and protects the internal terminals from dust and physical contact. The 82mm square faceplate sits on a 45mm projection from the wall once installed, with all wiring entering through knockout holes in the rear or sides of the integral back box.

The premium grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and an IP20 rating, meaning it is protected against finger contact and objects larger than 12.5mm but is not rated for damp or outdoor environments. The powder-coated finish provides a durable surface that resists corrosion in dry indoor settings. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and rated for 230V 50Hz mains with screw terminals for secure cable connection.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way switching mean?

A 2-way switch can control a light or circuit from one of two locations when paired with another 2-way switch. This is common for stairs, hallways and rooms with multiple entry points where the same light needs to be controlled from either end.

Does the back box come integrated?

Yes. The metal clad construction combines the faceplate and back box in a single pressed steel unit, so no separate back box is needed. The housing is surface-mounted directly onto the wall.

Can this be used outdoors or in damp locations?

No. The IP20 rating means it is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but has no water ingress protection. It is designed for dry indoor environments only.

What cable entry options are available?

The integral back box has knockout holes in the rear and sides for cable entry. These can be removed with a screwdriver or punch to match the cable run direction at the installation site.
