Description

The Knightsbridge EX4TSS is a 100mm extractor fan with LED backlighting around the perimeter of a brushed steel faceplate and an adjustable overrun timer that runs the motor for 2-30 minutes after the switch is turned off. The fan extracts 23 litres per second (83m³/hr) at 28.5dBA measured at 3 metres, making it suitable for bathrooms, ensuites and small WCs where noise is a concern.

Designed for ceiling or wall mounting, the fan requires a 102mm diameter hole cut into plasterboard or masonry and recesses 78.4mm into the ceiling void, projecting 48.7mm below the ceiling line when installed. The IP45 rating allows installation in bathroom Zone 1 (the area directly above a bath or shower to 2.25m height). The motor is double-insulated Class II, so no earth connection is required during wiring.

The LED surround lights when the fan operates, providing a visual indicator that extraction is active. This LED effect is decorative only and does not replace standard bathroom lighting. The brushed steel finish on the faceplate is ABS plastic with a stainless steel-effect coating, pairing with chrome taps, towel rails and contemporary bathroom fittings. The fan complies with Part F (ventilation) and Part L (energy efficiency) of UK Building Regulations.

The overrun timer is preset to 2 minutes but adjustable up to 30 minutes via a dial accessed behind the faceplate, allowing the fan to continue extracting moisture after a shower finishes and the light switch is turned off. The 10.1W power draw and 0.438W/(l/s) SFP rating meet current energy efficiency standards for continuous and intermittent ventilation systems.

The IP45 rating makes the EX4TSS suitable for Zone 1 installation, which is the area directly above a bath or shower up to 2.25m height. It cannot be installed in Zone 0 (inside the bath or shower enclosure itself).

How is the overrun timer adjusted?

The timer is preset to 2 minutes but can be adjusted from 2 to 30 minutes via a dial accessed behind the front faceplate. This allows the fan to continue running after the bathroom light switch is turned off, ensuring moisture is fully extracted.

Does the fan require an earth connection?
