Description

The Knightsbridge 1-gang grid faceplate is an 86mm square white thermoset resin plate designed for use with a single Curved Edge grid module (CUG1F, sold separately). The curved edge profile gives a softer wall finish than traditional sharp-edged faceplates, with a gentle radius that continues across all four edges of the square plate.

The grid system allows customised switch and socket configurations where individual modules (dimmers, switches, data ports, TV sockets) clip into a metal grid frame, which is then covered by this faceplate. This 1-gang plate accommodates one grid module and pairs with the wider Knightsbridge Curved Edge range to maintain consistent styling across a property. The plate projects 7mm from the wall once fitted, sitting flush with the module aperture beneath.

The thermoset resin construction resists yellowing and impact damage better than standard thermoplastic plates, and the material carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011. This makes the faceplate suitable for hygiene-conscious installations in kitchens, bathrooms, care facilities and commercial environments where surface bacteria control matters. The IP20 rating confirms the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations.

This 1-gang faceplate is designed for use with the Knightsbridge CUG1F grid frame, which accepts one Curved Edge grid module. The grid module and frame are sold separately. Only Curved Edge grid modules fit this system — standard grid modules are incompatible.

What are the anti-microbial properties?

The thermoset resin is treated with an anti-microbial additive that has been third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011, which measures the effectiveness of plastics and non-porous surfaces in reducing bacterial growth. This makes the faceplate suitable for hygiene-critical environments like healthcare facilities, commercial kitchens and bathrooms.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The faceplate carries an IP20 rating, which means it is suitable for dry indoor locations only. For bathroom zones requiring splash or water resistance (IP44 or higher), use a different Knightsbridge product rated for wet environments.

What is the difference between thermoset and thermoplastic faceplates?

Thermoset resin is cured during manufacture into a fixed molecular structure that resists heat deformation and yellowing over time. Thermoplastic faceplates can be re-melted and may yellow or warp under prolonged UV exposure or heat. Thermoset plates are more durable but cannot be recycled in the same way as thermoplastics.
