Description

The Knightsbridge CL85BC is a 1-gang blanking plate in brushed chrome with a rounded edge profile, designed to cover unused or redundant wall boxes where electrical accessories have been removed or connections have been made obsolete. The plate measures 85.75mm square with a 7.5mm projection from the wall and includes a built-in gasket to seal against the back box edge.

Blanking plates are used during renovations where sockets or switches have been relocated, in new-build properties where future connections are being reserved, and in offices or hospitality spaces where maintaining a clean wall finish is required without removing the back box. The rounded edge softens the plate's profile against the wall and is consistent with Knightsbridge's rounded-edge socket and switch range, allowing blanking plates to match existing accessories in the same finish.

The brushed chrome finish is applied to premium-grade steel, giving the plate corrosion resistance and durability under handling during installation and cleaning. The finish carries a directional grain that reduces fingerprint visibility compared to polished chrome. The plate is certified to IEC 60670-1 and carries an IP20 rating, suitable for dry indoor locations. An earth terminal is included on the back of the plate for bonding to metal back boxes where required by wiring regulations.

The plate fits standard UK 1-gang back boxes with 60.3mm fixing centres. The built-in gasket seals against both metal and plastic back box edges to prevent dust ingress.

Why does the plate include an earth terminal?
