Description

A fan isolator does one job and should do it properly: a triple pole rocker that takes an extract fan right out of circuit for servicing, cleaning or a filter change. The plate is screwless, so the front reads as one clean face with no fixing heads to collect dust, and the finish is a textured carbon fibre weave, dark and faintly directional, with a chrome trim picking out the edge. The rocker is rated at 10A, which covers the small motors used in domestic extract. It sits on the familiar square plate format.

We would choose this for a bathroom, shower room or en suite where the fan needs proper isolation, and it works just as well in a utility room or a cloakroom with extract running. It suits anyone building a darker scheme, with charcoal tiling, graphite paintwork or black brassware, where the isolator is usually the one fitting that spoils the look. That is really why we stock it: the isolator tends to be an afterthought, and this one can be brought into line with everything else on the wall.

Behind the plate is polycarbonate with metal working parts, double insulated and built to the British and European standard for household switches. It carries a ten year warranty. Indoors only, and on household lighting circuits. It breaks live, switched live and neutral together, so an extract fan with a run-on timer is fully dead rather than partly energised. That is why it is the switch specified for fan servicing.
