What defines a Scandinavian coffee table
The Nordic look rests on a few honest ideas: pale timber, restrained detailing and proportions that keep a room feeling open. A Danish coffee table tends to sit low, with tapered legs and a smooth top that lets the grain of the wood do the talking. We choose pieces that keep clutter down, so many carry a lower shelf or a shallow drawer for remotes, coasters and books. The result is furniture that works quietly, giving a sofa something to gather around without crowding the floor.
Materials and finishes we stock
Solid oak and ash remain the mainstay of our range, prized for their light tone and hard-wearing surface. A few pieces use walnut for a deeper, richer note. We also carry tables that pair wood with muted stone or matt metal. Oiled finishes let the timber age gently and can be refreshed at home, while lacquered tops resist marks from cups and spills. A Nordic coffee table with rounded corners is a sensible pick for households with young children.
Choosing the right size and shape
As a rough guide, we like the table to sit at a similar height to the sofa cushions, with a gap of around 40cm between the two so there is room to move. Round and oval tables ease traffic through smaller rooms, while a longer rectangular top suits a generous three-seater. We measure the space first, then leave clearance on every side. Pairing a table with side tables or a sideboard in a matching wood keeps the whole room settled.
