Description

This LYYT 5m extension cable adds length to LYYT Rubber Connectable outdoor string light runs, using weatherproof connectors at both ends to link existing string light sections without needing a separate power supply. The cable is built from black rubber with an IP44 rating, making it suitable for permanent outdoor installation in gardens, patios and event spaces where rain and moisture are present.

The cable suits installations where the power supply or previous string light section is too far from the next run of lights. It connects inline between LYYT string light sections using the same two-pin connectors used on the string lights themselves, maintaining a continuous weatherproof link. The 5m length allows flexibility in routing around garden features, pergolas or outdoor furniture without creating visible slack in the cable run.

The black rubber outer blends into dark backgrounds and night-time settings, keeping the cable unobtrusive when run along fences, walls or under decking. The rubber construction withstands UV exposure, temperature variation and light mechanical wear better than standard PVC outdoor cable, making it a practical choice for year-round garden lighting that remains connected over winter.

Frequently Asked

Is this compatible with other outdoor string light brands?

No. This extension cable is designed specifically for LYYT Rubber Connectable string lights and uses LYYT's proprietary two-pin connector system. It will not fit standard festoon string lights or other brands' connector types.

Can multiple extension cables be connected together?

Yes, but check the total combined load and maximum run length specified by LYYT for the string light system. Excessive chaining of extension cables can lead to voltage drop and reduced bulb brightness at the far end of the run.

Does the IP44 rating mean it can be left out in all weather?

IP44 means the cable is protected against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor use in rain and typical UK weather. It should not be submerged in water or left in standing puddles.

Can the cable be cut to a shorter length?

Cutting the cable removes the weatherproof connectors and voids the IP rating. If you need a shorter extension, it's better to coil the excess cable neatly and secure it with cable ties rather than cutting.
