Description

The Atom is a 92mm recessed downlight with a tiltable GU10 fitting that adjusts 25° from vertical, allowing directional light control once installed. The white powder-coated aluminium bezel sits 25mm deep, cutting flush to ceiling plaster with spring clips that grip the ceiling void from behind.

Designed for residential and commercial interiors where directional accent lighting is needed without surface-mounted fittings, the Atom works in kitchens for worktop task lighting, living rooms for highlighting artwork or architectural features, and retail or hospitality spaces for merchandise or display illumination. The 25° tilt range lets you angle light towards a vertical surface or down at an oblique angle without needing to reposition the ceiling cut-out.

The white powder coat matches standard ceiling paint tones and minimises visual interruption on light-coloured ceilings. The aluminium construction dissipates heat from halogen or LED GU10 bulbs up to 50W, though most installations now use 5-7W LED equivalents for lower running costs. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry internal environments — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor soffits.

Frequently Asked

What size ceiling cut-out is required?

The 92mm diameter bezel requires an 80-85mm hole in the ceiling plaster. The spring clips behind the bezel grip the ceiling void and pull the fitting flush once inserted.

Does the fitting come with a GU10 bulb?

No. GU10 bulbs are sold separately. The fitting accepts halogen or LED GU10 bulbs up to 50W, though most users now fit 5-7W LED equivalents for lower energy consumption and heat output.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be installed in dry internal rooms. Bathrooms, wet rooms and outdoor soffits require IP44 or higher rated fittings.

How much can the light direction be adjusted?

The GU10 socket tilts 25° from vertical after installation, allowing the beam to be angled towards a wall, feature or surface without needing to reposition the ceiling cut-out.
