Description

The Ypsilon is a slim recessed LED wall light in a chrome finish: a narrow blade 61cm tall and 3cm wide, its upper section angling gently away from the wall. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or fit. It draws 13W and gives 1046 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, with a CRI of 90, which means skin tones, timber and fabrics keep their natural colour under it. The fitting sits in a recessed box 4cm by 11cm set into the wall, so the box itself stays out of sight.

We see it in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, wherever a tall, narrow fitting can light a wall without taking up space. A pair either side of a bed gives gentle evening light without a lamp crowding the bedside table, and in a living room a run of them along one wall adds a calm layer of light after dark. In a dining room, the warm 3000K light is kind to food and faces alike. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it is an indoor fitting.

The chrome finish runs the full length of the blade, catching the light from the room around it, and the bend partway up gives the fitting its shape whether it is on or off. It is not dimmable, so plan it on an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer. The Ypsilon runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician; because the box is recessed into the wall, it is worth planning the position with your electrician early, ideally before the wall is decorated, so the fitting sits exactly where you want it.
