Description

The Velisse is a 400mm horizontal alabaster wall light built around a softly rounded slab of natural Spanish alabaster set against a soft white backplate. An integrated 12W LED runs along the length of the fitting and casts warm 3000K light through the stone, so the alabaster itself acts as the diffuser rather than a separate lens or shade.

The horizontal format suits hallways, stairwells, bedroom walls above a headboard, and lounge alcoves where a wider wash of light works better than a tall narrow fitting. At 120mm tall and 400mm long the wall light reads as a horizontal block rather than a sconce, sitting flat enough against the wall to work in circulation areas where deeper fittings would obstruct. It hard-wires to a standard UK back box on 230V mains.

Each alabaster section shows different mineral veining and tonal clouding depending on the part of the block it was cut from, so when the LED is lit the surface reveals soft variation along its length rather than a uniform glow. The soft white finish on the surrounding metalwork keeps the focus on the stone and pairs the fitting with painted plaster, light timber and pale neutral schemes without competing for attention.

Is the Velisse dimmable?

The integrated LED is rated at 12W on 230V mains. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer module used, so please contact us before pairing the fitting with a dimmer to confirm suitability.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Velisse does not carry a published IP rating, so it should be installed in dry interior locations only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones, en-suites or other areas exposed to moisture.

Does each piece of alabaster look the same?

No. Every section of alabaster is cut from natural Spanish stone, so veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual fittings. This is a feature of the natural material, not a defect, and becomes most visible when the LED is lit.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe the surface with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
