Description

The Valentina M/29 is a compact table lamp with a single wavy shade that sits like a leaf on a slim black stem, above a round disc base. The shade is black on top and copper underneath, where fine ribs follow its rippling edge and catch the light, while the structure is black throughout. It is made of aluminium and iron, and stands 29cm tall and 24cm wide, small enough for a bedside table or a narrow shelf. Inside is an integrated LED of 6.5W giving 587 lumens at 2700K, a warm white, with a CRI of 90, so there is never a bulb to buy or change and colours under it look true.

We see it first in the bedroom, where its low, warm light sits well beside the bed for reading a few pages before sleep, and in the living room, on a side table, a sideboard or a bookcase, where the copper underside glows softly against a wall. The shade casts its light downward, so it lights the surface it stands on rather than the whole room, which makes it a good companion to a ceiling light rather than a replacement. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The design is by Alex Fernández Camps, who gave a plain aluminium and iron lamp a softly moving outline. The black and copper finish keeps the lamp quiet by day and warmer by night, when the copper glows beneath the shade. It is a plug-in lamp, on a 30cm and 150cm cable, running at 230V, and it has an on/off switch on the fitting itself, so you can turn it on and off at the lamp without reaching for a wall switch. There are no extra parts to buy: plug it in and it is ready. It has a plug on its cable, and we include a UK adaptor in the box, so it is ready for a UK socket.
