Description

The Torvella is a single-light hanging wall light with a 150mm light beige travertine drum shade suspended on a fabric-covered flex from a circular walnut-stained wood backplate. A matt black angled arm extends out from the backplate before turning vertical, where the corded flex carries the drum down to a total projection of 240mm. The shade takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately).

The hanging configuration suits bedside walls in place of a table lamp, reading corners next to an armchair, and hallway or landing positions where a static wall light would feel too rigid. Because the drum sits well below the backplate on a flexible cord, the fitting reads more like a small pendant fixed to the wall than a traditional sconce, which works well above bedside tables where a swing-arm or fixed wall light would project too far into the room.

The travertine drum shows the natural pitting and tonal banding of the stone, with paler cream and warmer beige tones running through the cylinder. The open base directs light downward onto the surface or floor below, while the porous travertine picks up a soft glow at the rim. The walnut backplate and black metal arm give the fitting a layered, three-material palette of stone, wood and metal rather than a single-finish look.

What bulb does the Torvella take?

The drum is wired for a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED bulb between 4-8W and 2700K-3000K works well for bedside or reading use, where the open base of the drum casts light downward.

Does the travertine vary between pieces?

Yes. Travertine is a natural sedimentary stone, so each drum shows different pitting, tonal banding and mineral markings. Variation in colour depth and texture is a feature of the material rather than a defect.

Can it be used as a bedside light?

Yes, this is one of its strongest applications. The hanging drum sits well below the wall-mounted backplate, putting the light closer to the bedside surface without occupying space on the table itself. Pairing one each side of a bed gives symmetrical reading light.

Is the Torvella suitable for bathrooms?

No. This wall light does not carry an IP rating for damp or wet locations and is intended for indoor use in dry rooms only, such as bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and reading corners.
