Description
The Small Siren is an oval bulkhead light with a solid brass body in a raw brass finish and a domed cover of clear ribbed glass. There is no grille across the front; the maker says the grille is left off to make the most of the light output, which gives it a cleaner, more open face than a caged bulkhead. It is a compact light, 21cm long, 12.5cm wide and 13cm deep, and weighs a solid 1.4KG. The IP64 rating settles the outdoor question: it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors through British weather.
Its small size suits the places where a big lantern would crowd the wall: beside a front door, inside a porch, along a garden wall, or on a boathouse or shed. The ribbed glass and the brass frame give it the look of a light from a ship's deck, and the maker says the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names. The maker also describes it as a light often used in bathrooms for a nautical look, and with an IP64 rating that is a place we are happy to suggest; a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.
The glass sits in a brass frame held by four brass clamps, with a black seal between the frame and the body. The cable enters through a gland at the end or the rear, and a brass blank is included to close the unused opening. Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so the bright gold of a new light settles over the seasons into a deeper, warmer tone. As a mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician. It takes one E27 (ES) lamp of up to 18W, not included, so have one ready for the day it is fitted.

Frequently Asked
Can the Small Siren go outdoors?
Yes. It is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors through British weather on a wall, porch or boathouse.
Can I fit this bulkhead light in a bathroom?
The maker says it is often used in bathrooms for a nautical look, and its IP64 rating means we are happy to suggest one; a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.
What bulb does the Small Siren take?
It takes one E27 (ES) lamp of up to 18W. The lamp is not included, so buy one separately before the light is fitted.
How big is the Small Siren bulkhead?
It is 21cm long, 12.5cm wide and 13cm deep, and weighs 1.4KG, a compact size for a doorway, porch or garden wall.
Will the raw brass finish change colour?
Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so expect the bright gold of a new light to settle over time into a deeper, warmer tone.
Where does the cable enter the light?
The cable enters through a gland at the end or the rear, and a brass blank is included to close whichever opening is left unused.
