Description

The Knightsbridge OP9R is an IP66-rated 13A 2-gang outdoor socket with wireless remote control, allowing both outlets to be switched on or off from a key-fob transmitter at distances up to 30m. The socket housing is built from black polycarbonate with a hinged weatherproof lid and rubber gasket seal, designed to maintain IP66 protection against dust ingress and heavy rain when closed.

Designed for controlling seasonal outdoor devices such as pond pumps, water feature lighting, Christmas lights and patio heaters, the socket mounts to an external wall using a standard 25mm outdoor back box. Each outlet is rated at 13A, giving a combined maximum load of 2990W across both gangs when both are in use simultaneously. The wireless control removes the need to walk to the socket in poor weather or darkness to switch devices on or off.

The key-fob remote uses two CR2016 lithium batteries (included) and operates both outlets independently or together depending on the control sequence programmed during setup. The 30m range is line-of-sight — walls, fences and thick planting reduce effective distance. The IK06 impact rating provides protection against moderate knocks from garden furniture, tools and incidental contact during outdoor maintenance.

What is the remote control range?

The key-fob remote operates up to 30m from the socket in line-of-sight conditions. Walls, fences, thick planting and building structures reduce the effective range. The remote uses two CR2016 lithium batteries, which are included.

Can both sockets be controlled independently?

Yes. The remote can be programmed to control each outlet independently or both together, depending on the setup sequence followed during installation. See the product manual for programming instructions.

What back box depth is required?

The socket requires a standard 25mm outdoor back box with earth terminal. The 84mm projection measurement includes the socket body and the weatherproof lid when closed.

Does the IP66 rating apply when the lid is open?

No. The IP66 rating against dust and heavy rain applies only when the hinged lid is closed and the rubber gasket seal is fully compressed. When the lid is open to access the outlets, the socket is exposed to the weather.
