Description

The Radial is a round ceiling canopy in a brushed bronze finish, 24.5cm across and just 3.7cm deep, with a driver built in. It gives no light of its own. Its job is to power the pendants that hang from it: it takes three or four pendants, each sold separately, and its built-in 12W driver feeds them at 24V DC, so there is no separate power supply to hide away. It runs on 230V mains, wired in by an electrician, and it is not dimmable, so the pendants it feeds switch simply on and off.

We would put it where you want a small cluster of pendants from a single point: over a dining table, in a stairwell, a hallway or the centre of a living room. Hanging three or four pendants from one canopy keeps the ceiling tidy, with one fixing point and one disc instead of several. The brushed bronze has a warm, soft sheen that sits well against a white or pale ceiling and alongside darker woods. It is for indoor use. When you choose the pendants, pick three or four that run at 24V DC to suit its driver. The accessory for hanging the electric cable is not included, so plan for that too when you put the cluster together.

The finish is brushed bronze, with a fine, even grain running across the face of the disc, and the round plate sits on a shallow octagonal box that fixes to the ceiling. At 3.7cm deep it stays close to the ceiling, so the eye goes to the pendants rather than to the fitting that holds them. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. One practical note: the canopy is not dimmable, so the pendants it feeds work from a plain on and off switch rather than a dimmer.
