Description

The Platet A/01 is an outdoor wall light with a Green shade on a slim Ebony Black structure. A thin arm rises from a narrow wall plate, turns forward and holds the shade 30cm out from the wall, directing its light downwards. It stands 40cm tall, with a shade 20cm across and a wall plate 14cm tall and 5cm wide. The light source is an integrated LED of 4.2W, giving 323 lumens of warm white light at 2700K with a CRI of 90, so stone, brick and planting keep their true colours after dark. There is no bulb to buy or change.

Rated IP66, it is made for outdoor use, on an open wall as well as a sheltered one: beside a front door, along a terrace or patio, above a garden table or on the wall between windows. Several fitted in a row along a long wall give an even run of soft pools of light. Its output is gentle and welcoming rather than a floodlight, right for lighting the way to the door and for sitting out on a summer evening. The Green shade against the Ebony Black structure sits comfortably with brick, render, stone and timber, and looks at home among planting.

The Platet A/01 is made from aluminium, brass and iron, with its structure finished in Ebony Black and its shade in Green. Christophe Mathieu designed it, keeping the plain lines of the classic industrial wall lamp, an arm reaching out from the wall to hold a wide shade, and pairing them with LED light. It is a Class I fitting for 230V mains and is wired in, so it needs a qualified electrician to install it. With the LED built in, once it is on the wall there is no lamp to replace and nothing more to add.
