Description

The Photonix is a 2-light outdoor lamp post with a grey powder-coated aluminium column and two upward-facing lamp heads, each fitted with a matt white plastic diffuser. The post stands 575mm tall with a 200mm projection from the central column to each lamp head, and takes two E27 bulbs (sold separately). IP44 rated for outdoor use, the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction.

Designed for front gardens, driveways, patios and pathway lighting, the twin-head configuration provides wider light distribution than single-head posts, making it suitable for illuminating entrance areas, gate posts, or the edges of decking and paved seating areas. The post is ground-mounted with a circular base plate and requires a suitable outdoor electrical connection run underground or from an adjacent wall. The grey finish sits comfortably in modern and contemporary outdoor schemes without the stark contrast of black or white fittings.

The aluminium frame is extruded and turned, giving a smooth cylindrical profile that resists corrosion better than mild steel equivalents. The powder coating provides a durable, weather-resistant surface that can be wiped clean of dirt and dust. The matt white diffusers soften the light output, reducing glare and distributing the bulb's light evenly across the surrounding area rather than projecting a sharp downward beam. What bulbs does the Photonix take?

The lamp post takes two standard E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambient lighting. The fitting is dimmable if compatible LED bulbs and a suitable outdoor dimmer are used.

Can this be used in exposed outdoor locations?

Yes. The IP44 rating means the fitting is protected against water splashes from any direction and solid objects over 1mm, making it suitable for gardens, driveways, patios and pathways. It is not submersible and should not be installed in areas that flood or collect standing water.

How is the lamp post installed?

The post is ground-mounted via a circular base plate that bolts to a concrete foundation or paved surface. An outdoor-rated electrical cable must be run to the post location, typically underground in conduit or from an adjacent wall. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician to comply with UK wiring regulations.

What height does the light reach when installed?

The post itself is 575mm tall. When mounted on a typical garden path or patio surface, the lamp heads sit approximately 500-600mm above ground level depending on the thickness of the base and fixing bolts.
