Description
The Pharos is a solid brass up and down wall light: a slim cylinder with a banded cap at each end that throws light up and down the wall. It comes in antique brass, a deep, warm brown with lighter highlights, and the maker describes the finish as aged and original-looking. It is compact, 7cm wide and 21cm tall, standing 10cm from the wall on a squared mounting block. Its IP64 rating settles the outdoor question: it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it lives outside through British weather.
Because it lights in both directions, a pair either side of a front door frames the entrance with soft light, and a single one breaks up a long garden wall or lifts a dark porch. The narrow body suits tight spots beside a door frame or between windows. The maker calls it the most contemporary design in its range and says it was made for outdoor settings that want an industrial or nautical effect, so it looks as much at home on a boathouse as on a modern town house. The maker also says the maritime influence shows in the materials, designs and names of its range.
The body is solid brass, which the maker describes as heavy duty and built to last, and solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so the antique tone only deepens with time. The maker says each antique brass light starts life as raw brass before it is aged. The cable enters through the rear wall plate by way of a cable gland, which keeps the connection tucked behind the light. It takes two GU10 lamps. As a mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician. Our practical tip: buy a spare GU10 or two, so a failed lamp never leaves your doorway half lit.

Frequently Asked
Can the Pharos stay outside all year?
Yes. It is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors through British weather all year.
What lamps does the Pharos take?
It takes two GU10 lamps. We suggest keeping a spare or two, so a failed lamp is quick to replace.
How big is the Pharos wall light?
It is 7cm wide and 21cm tall and stands 10cm from the wall, a slim, compact size that suits tight spots beside a door frame.
Will the antique brass finish change outdoors?
Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so the antique tone deepens over time. The maker describes the finish as aged and original-looking from the start.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
Its IP64 rating means it can be considered for a bathroom, and a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.
Where does the cable enter?
The cable enters through the rear wall plate by way of a cable gland, so the connection stays tucked behind the light rather than on show.
