Description
Pharos is a compact up and down wall light: a solid brass cylinder in a satin nickel finish, set on a flat back plate, that sends light both upwards and downwards across the wall. It is 8.8cm wide and 13.2cm tall, standing 7.5cm from the wall, and at 0.8KG it has a reassuring weight for something so small. The IP44 rating settles where it belongs: it is protected against splashing water from any direction and against solid objects larger than a millimetre, so it is suited to an outside wall in British weather.
Because the light goes both ways, a pair either side of a front door frames the entrance, and a single light brings a porch, a garden wall or the side of a boathouse to life after dark. The slim body suits tight spots, such as the gap between a door frame and a window, where a larger lantern would crowd the wall. The maker says this wall light was designed for outdoor settings that call for an industrial or nautical effect, and that a maritime influence runs through the materials, designs and even the names of its range. In satin nickel the look is cool and crisp, and it sits happily against white render, grey brick or painted timber cladding.
Beneath the satin nickel is solid brass, and brass contains no iron, so the body cannot rust. The cable enters through the rear wall plate, so it can come straight from the wall behind the light and stay out of sight. Pharos takes two GU10 lamps, 6W maximum, and the lamps are not included, so it is worth buying them alongside the light. As a mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician. One practical tip: GU10 lamps are easy to find and simple to change, so keeping a spare pair in the drawer means a doorway never goes dark for long.

Frequently Asked
Is the Pharos wall light suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. It is rated IP44, which means it is protected against splashing water from any direction, so it is suited to an outside wall by a front door, on a porch or along a garden wall.
Does the Pharos come with lamps?
No, the lamps are not included. It takes two GU10 lamps, 6W maximum, so it is worth ordering them at the same time as the light.
How big is the Pharos wall light?
It is 8.8cm wide and 13.2cm tall, and it stands 7.5cm from the wall, so it fits narrow spaces beside doors and windows. It weighs 0.8KG.
Can I fit this light in a bathroom?
Its IP44 rating means it may be suggested for a bathroom, though a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone for your room.
Will the brass body rust?
No. The body is solid brass under a satin nickel finish, and because brass contains no iron it cannot rust, even on an exposed outside wall.
Where does the cable enter the light?
The cable enters through the rear wall plate, so it can come straight out of the wall behind the light and stay hidden from view.
