Description
The Pharos is a compact outdoor up and down wall light, made of solid brass in a raw brass finish. Its body is a rounded half cylinder, flat at the back and set on a slim wall plate held by a screw on each side, and it sends light upwards and downwards to wash the wall above and below it. At 8.8cm wide and 13.2cm tall, standing 7.5cm from the wall, it sits beside a narrow door frame without crowding it, and it weighs 0.8KG. The IP44 rating means it is protected against splashing water from any direction and against solid objects larger than a millimetre, so it is made for outside walls, and a porch or a spot under the eaves gives it an easier life.
Because the light travels two ways, a pair either side of a front door frames the entrance in soft bands of light, while a single one brings a porch, a garden wall, a courtyard or the side of a boathouse to life after dark. The maker describes these wall lights as designed for outdoor places where an industrial or nautical look is wanted, and says the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names. To our eye the plain brass cylinder looks as much at home on a modern rendered house as on a cottage by the sea.
The maker calls it heavy duty and built to last. Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, and that slow change is a large part of its charm. The cable enters through the rear wall plate, which keeps the entry hidden behind the light. It takes two GU10 lamps, up to 6W each, and the lamps are not included, so buy a pair alongside it. As a mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and from then on the brass weathers in its own good time.

Frequently Asked
Can the Pharos go outside in British weather?
Yes. Its IP44 rating means it is protected against splashing water from any direction, so it is made for outside walls, and a porch or a spot under the eaves gives it an easier life.
Can I use this IP44 wall light in a bathroom?
Its IP44 rating means it may be suitable for a bathroom, and a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone for it in your room.
What bulbs does the Pharos take?
It takes two GU10 lamps, up to 6W each. The lamps are not included, so buy a pair alongside the light.
How big is the Pharos wall light?
It is 8.8cm wide and 13.2cm tall, standing 7.5cm from the wall, and it weighs 0.8KG, compact enough to sit beside a narrow door frame.
How will the raw brass change over time outdoors?
Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so over the seasons its colour moves from bright gold towards a deeper, warmer tone.
How is the cable entry arranged?
The cable enters through the rear wall plate, so the entry sits hidden behind the light rather than showing on the face of the wall.
