Description

The Ombra Nero Marquina is a tall, slim LED floor lamp in matt black. A single white tube of light, 7cm across, sits to one side of a thin pole that rises from a black, veined cylindrical base. It stands 183.2cm tall, and the base is 11cm across and 20cm tall, so it needs very little floor. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It gives 1589 lumens from 30W at 2700K, a warm white, with a CRI of 90, which keeps the colours of wood, fabric and skin looking true.

We think it belongs in the living room. Stand it beside a sofa or in an empty corner and the tube spreads a soft, even column of light along its length, gentle enough for an evening in and bright enough to read by. Its narrow footprint lets it slip between a chair and a wall, or beside a doorway, where a wider lamp would be in the way. It plugs in, so it can move when the furniture does, and it dims with the dimmer on its cable, so you can take it from full brightness down to a low glow. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The matt black finish keeps the pole quiet, so the eye goes to the light rather than the frame, and the dark, veined base gives the lamp a solid foot at floor level. The tube sits off to one side of the pole rather than centred on it, which gives the lamp its clean, graphic line from every side of the room. It runs at 230V. With the dimmer on its cable close to hand and no bulbs to keep in the cupboard, it is a lamp you set up once and then simply use every evening. It has a plug on its cable, and we include a UK adaptor in the box, so it is ready for a UK socket.
