Description
Nick is a small round recessed LED downlight in white, 5cm across and 5cm tall, with a 3.6cm opening framed by a slim white trim and a black interior. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 6.5W and gives 455 lumens at 3000K, a warm white, with a CRI of 90, so skin tones, wood and food look natural beneath it. The 26° beam is fairly narrow, casting a focused pool of light rather than a broad wash across the room.
Rated IP65, Nick is protected against dust and jets of water, so it suits a bathroom or a kitchen as well as any dry room in the house. In a bathroom it gives clear, warm light over a basin or a mirror. In a kitchen a row of them picks out a worktop or an island without the bulk of a larger fitting. The small face and narrow beam also make it a good choice for lighting a picture, a shelf of books or a run of joinery, and for low ceilings where you want the light to sit neatly and stay out of the way. It is made for use indoors.
Nick is a recessed ceiling fitting, wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician, and each one needs a cut-out of 4.3cm. Once it is in, only the white trim shows, a neat ring around the black-lined opening, which keeps the look clean on a white ceiling. The body is 5cm tall, so check there is at least that much depth in the ceiling void where each light will go. Because the LED is built in, there is no lamp to choose, and every light in a row gives the same 455 lumens at the same warm 3000K.
