Description

This nickel-cadmium battery delivers 3.6V at 900mAh capacity for emergency lighting systems, specifically designed as a replacement for Duceri EMD2WMEXHSIGN and EMD2WMEXSIGN emergency exit signs. The battery measures 200mm x 90mm x 45mm and weighs 64g, fitting the standard battery compartment in these Duceri units.

Emergency lighting batteries are charged continuously by the mains supply and discharge only during power failures or when the exit sign is tested. This NiCd chemistry handles the charge-discharge cycle reliably over a 4-year service life before replacement is recommended. The parallel configuration means the battery sits alongside the mains supply circuit rather than in series, maintaining voltage stability during charging.

The white casing houses three sub-C NiCd cells connected to deliver the required 3.6V output. A two-wire connector with red and black leads plugs directly into the Duceri sign's internal battery socket. Maximum cell temperature is rated at 50°C, making this suitable for exit signs in typical indoor environments including corridors, stairwells and reception areas. The battery carries CE marking and conforms to UK waste battery disposal regulations.

Frequently Asked

How often should this battery be replaced?

Emergency lighting batteries should be replaced every 4 years from installation, regardless of usage. The label on the battery includes space to mark the installation date to track this replacement cycle.

Will this fit other emergency lighting brands?

This battery is sized and configured specifically for Duceri EMD2WMEXHSIGN and EMD2WMEXSIGN emergency exit signs. While the voltage and connector may match other brands' units, the physical dimensions and wiring orientation should be verified before fitting to non-Duceri equipment.

How is the old battery disposed of?

Nickel-cadmium batteries contain heavy metals and must not be discarded in general waste. Take the old battery to a household recycling centre or return it to an electrical retailer offering battery take-back schemes. The battery carries the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol indicating it falls under UK waste battery regulations.

Does the battery come pre-charged?

The battery may hold a partial charge from assembly but will require a full charge cycle once installed in the emergency sign. The mains supply to the sign will charge the battery automatically once connected.
