Description

The Nans Bag/38 is a low, wide outdoor floor lamp, 38cm tall and 60cm across, that stands on the floor and glows through a woven shade. The shade is synthetic fibre cord in Brown (with Beige and Light Grey), worked into an open lattice around a gently rounded, drum-like body, and the finish is Brown. A flat, dark round top closes the shade, with two teak wood handles fixed across it so you can lift the lamp and carry it where you want it. Inside, an integrated LED gives 1023 lumens, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and the light falls through the weave and pools on the floor around its base.

Rated IP44 and made for outdoor use, it suits a terrace, a patio or a garden seating area, and it is just as at home in a living room. Set it beside a sofa or between a pair of lounge chairs and it lights the room from floor level, a soft glow rather than light from above. The handles and the plug-in power make it easy to move from one spot to another, so it can light the living room one evening and the terrace the next. Its 60cm width also makes it large enough to hold its own on a rug or a deck without looking lost.

It is made from stainless steel, aluminium, teak wood and synthetic fibre, with the woven cord bound neatly around the rim of the top and the teak handles set on dark brackets that hold them clear of the surface. It runs at 230V and plugs in, and its cable leaves from low down on the body, so it lies along the floor rather than trailing from the top. With a handle on each side, we find it an easy lamp to lift in at the end of the evening and carry back out again. It has a plug on its cable, and we include a UK adaptor in the box, so it is ready for a UK socket. Outdoors, the plug and the adaptor must sit in a covered, weatherproof outdoor socket.
