Description

The Murané is a glass sphere light that fits on a wall or on a ceiling. A globe of Amber glass, 15cm across, sits against a small dome-shaped mount in a Brushed Champagne finish, and the glass has a rippled, dimpled surface that gives it a lively, almost liquid look. It uses a 4W integrated LED giving 167 lumens of warm 2700K light, with a CRI of 90, so colours and skin tones look natural and true. Because the LED is built in, there is no bulb to buy or change.

On a wall it stands 18.2cm out from the surface, which suits a hallway, a landing or the wall either side of a bed, where a compact light reads well without crowding the space. On a ceiling it makes a neat, low fitting for a small room, a corridor or a walk-in wardrobe, and several spaced along a passage make a pleasing row of warm points of light. It can be surface-mounted or partially recessed, whichever suits the wall or ceiling it goes on. With 167 lumens it is a gentle accent and mood light rather than the main light for a large room, so it works best alongside other lighting in a living room or dining room. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The Brushed Champagne finish is a soft, pale gold with a fine brushed grain, and it sits comfortably with the Amber glass as well as with warm wood, cream walls and brass details. It runs on 230V mains power and is wired in, so it is a job for a qualified electrician to install. The light is not dimmable, so plan to put it on an ordinary on/off switch rather than a dimmer circuit.
