Description

These steel spring retaining clips secure MR16 and GU10 bulbs inside 50mm diameter lampholders. The ring clips onto the lampholder rim after the bulb is inserted, holding the bulb against the socket contacts and preventing it from working loose under vibration or thermal cycling. Supplied in a 100-pack for bulk installation, trade refits and maintenance stock.

Designed for use with recessed downlights, low-voltage spotlight fittings and adjustable ceiling fixtures, the clips fit standard 50mm diameter lampholder bodies. The spring tension accommodates slight variation in bulb cap height between different manufacturers, maintaining a secure fit across MR16 halogen, LED MR16 and GU10 LED bulbs. Installation involves simply pushing the clip into the retention groove on the lampholder after the bulb is seated.

The steel construction withstands repeated bulb changes and the elevated temperatures inside enclosed downlight housings without losing tension. The clips are supplied loose in a bag rather than individually packaged, making them suitable for electricians carrying out multiple installations, property managers maintaining rental stock, or retail environments needing frequent bulb replacements.

Do these fit both MR16 and GU10 bulbs?

Yes. The clips fit standard 50mm diameter lampholders that accept either MR16 halogen/LED bulbs or GU10 LED bulbs. The spring tension accommodates the slightly different cap heights between the two bulb types.

How are they installed?

Insert the bulb into the lampholder socket first, then push the retaining ring into the groove around the lampholder rim. The ring clips into place and holds the bulb against the contacts. To remove the bulb, prise the ring out with a small flathead screwdriver or thumbnail.

Will they lose tension over time?

The steel construction maintains spring tension through hundreds of bulb change cycles and elevated temperatures inside enclosed downlight housings. If a clip becomes loose or bent from rough handling it should be replaced rather than re-used.

Are these compatible with all downlight brands?

The clips fit standard 50mm diameter lampholder bodies, which is the most common size for UK residential and commercial downlights. If your existing lampholders use a different retention method or diameter, check the lampholder spec before ordering.
