Description

The Misko S35 is a glass drum pendant light: a single white shade with soft ribbed bands running around it, set under a slim cap and hung from a black cable. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 10W, sold separately and not included, and that bulb lights the shade from within. The cap above the shade comes in a choice of two finishes, black or walnut, so you can match it to the wood and metal already in your room. The shade is 33cm tall and 24cm across, a generous size for hanging on its own.

We think it belongs over a dining table, where one drum hung low gives the table its own focus, or in a living room, over a side table or beside a favourite armchair. The black finish looks crisp against pale walls and dark furniture alike, while the walnut brings a warmer note to timber floors and wooden pieces. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is not dimmable, so it is best run from an ordinary light switch rather than a dimmer, and it suits anyone who wants simple, steady light at the table or the sofa.

The design is by Stone Designs, and it keeps things simple: a white glass shade, a neat cap and a single cable. The canopy that fixes to the ceiling is 10.5cm across and 3cm deep, small enough to sit quietly on most ceilings. The light runs on mains power and is wired in by a qualified electrician.
