Description

The Misko S15 is a one-light pendant with a soft, rounded shade of white opal glass set beneath a slim collar and hung on a black cable. We offer it in two finishes for the collar, walnut or black, so you can choose warm walnut or a crisper dark line against the white glass. The shade is 30.5cm across and 17cm tall, a compact size that still gives a generous glow, and the opal glass spreads the light evenly, so you see a gentle luminous form rather than a bright bulb. It needs an E27 bulb of up to 10W, sold separately, which provides the light, so you choose its warmth and brightness yourself.

We think it sits most happily in a dining room or a living room. Hung on its own over a small dining table, a side table or a reading chair, it gives a soft pool of light, and in a line over a longer table it makes a calm, even rhythm. The cable gives a drop of up to 250cm, so it works under taller ceilings as well as standard ones, and the ceiling canopy is a neat 10.5cm across and 3cm high. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.

The Misko design is by Stone Designs, and its appeal is in its restraint: one rounded glass form, one slim collar, nothing more. It is a Class I fitting that runs on mains power and is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. It is not dimmable, so it suits a standard on and off switch rather than a dimmer. As a practical note, keep to a bulb of 10W or less, and a warm white E27 bulb will suit the soft opal glass in a dining room or living room in the evening. Our photographs show the black version.
