Description

The Mei 150 is a pendant light on a generous scale. Its shade is 150cm across and 70cm tall, a broad, tapered form of pleated translucent ribbon that widens to a deep band before drawing in at the lower rim. Light glows softly through the ribbon and spreads down from the wide underside. We offer the shade in White Translucent Ribbon or Cream Translucent Ribbon, each on a black iron structure, with a canopy 14cm across at the ceiling. Inside are six E27 lamp holders taking bulbs of up to 15W each.

At this size it wants room around it. Over a large dining table, one shade can light the whole surface and give the room its focus. In a spacious living room with a high ceiling, it fills the space above a seating area without crowding it. The ribbon takes the edge off the bulbs, so the light is comfortable to sit beneath through a long meal or a quiet evening. Choose White Translucent Ribbon for a crisp, bright look or Cream Translucent Ribbon for a softer tone. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The structure is iron, finished in black, and holds the ribbon shade in shape. Six E27 bulbs, 15W maximum each, are not included and are sold separately. They are the light source, so have six within that limit ready before the fitting goes up. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician. As a Class I fitting, it needs an earth connection. With a shade this wide, decide exactly where it will hang, over the centre of the table or the room, before the electrician arrives, so the canopy goes in the right place first time.
