Description

The Mast is a small outdoor wall light in solid brass with an antique brass finish, shaped like a tapered bucket that sits flat against the wall and narrows towards the top. It is a downlight, sending its light down over the wall and the ground beneath it. It is 9.5cm wide, 11cm tall and 8.5cm deep, and weighs 0.82KG, so it suits spots where a larger lantern would crowd the wall. The IP65 rating settles the outdoor question: it is dust-tight and protected against jets of water from any direction, so it is built to live outside in British weather, driving rain included.

Its size makes it a good choice beside a front door, under a porch, along a garden wall or on a boathouse. The maker describes it as a neat, compact light that picks out just the area you want lit, and says the wall lights in this range are designed for outdoor places that call for an industrial or nautical look. The maker also says the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names. With its plain tapered form, the Mast sits as comfortably on a coastal cottage as on a modern brick house.

The body is solid brass, and the maker describes its finish as aged and original-looking. Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so expect the colour to deepen and shift with the weather over the years. The cable enters at the rear, so it can come straight through the wall behind the light with nothing running across the surface. The Mast takes one GU10 lamp of up to 40W, and the lamp is not included, so buy one separately. As a mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician. Because the light falls downwards, mount it over the step, path or keyhole you most want to see after dark.

Frequently Asked

Can the Mast wall light be used outdoors in the rain?

Yes. It is rated IP65, which means it is dust-tight and protected against jets of water from any direction, so it is made for outdoor walls in all British weather.

Does it come with a bulb?

No, the lamp is not included. It takes one GU10 lamp with a maximum of 40W, which you buy separately.

How big is the Mast?

It is a compact light, 9.5cm wide, 11cm tall and 8.5cm deep, and it weighs 0.82KG, so it suits narrow spaces beside a door.

Will the antique brass finish change over time?

The maker describes the finish as aged and original-looking, and solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so expect the colour to deepen gradually with the weather.

Which way does the light shine?

The Mast is a downlight, so it sends its light downwards over the wall and the ground beneath it, which makes it a good choice over a step or doorway.

Can I fit it in a bathroom?

Its IP65 rating means it can be considered for a bathroom, and a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone for it.
