Marvello 1 Light Cylinder Alabaster Wall Light - Matte Black

The Marvello is a single-light alabaster wall fitting with a 340mm tall cylindrical shade cut from natural Spanish alabaster, mounted on a rectangular matte black backplate. A vertically ribbed cylindrical collar in a brass-toned finish sits beneath the shade and houses the E14 lamp socket. Overall dimensions are 340mm high, 90mm wide and 150mm projection from the wall.

The wall light suits hallway runs, bedside positions either side of a headboard, and the flanks of bathroom mirrors or fireplaces where a vertical light source adds height to the wall. Hard-wired to a standard UK back box behind the matte black plate, the fitting works as a pair on either side of a feature or as a sequence along a corridor. The 150mm projection keeps it close enough to the wall for narrower passages.

The alabaster shade shows pronounced veining in honey, grey and smoky tones running through the stone, and each cylinder is cut from a different section so the marbling pattern varies between fittings. Solid copper construction beneath the finishes gives the lamp body weight and rigidity. The contrast between the pale translucent stone, the crisp matte black backplate and the ribbed metallic collar gives the fitting three distinct material zones rather than a single uniform finish.

When the E14 lamp is lit, the alabaster glows from within and the natural veining becomes more visible, casting warm light upwards and downwards from the open ends of the cylinder. Unlit, the shade reads as a pale stone column against the black plate.

What bulb does the Marvello take?

The Marvello uses a single E14 (small Edison screw) lamp, sold separately. A warm-white LED candle bulb between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the alabaster, as it brings out the warm honey tones in the stone without overheating the shade.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No IP rating is listed for the Marvello, so it should be installed only outside bathroom zones unless an IP-rated equivalent is confirmed. For general hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and dressing areas it installs to a standard UK back box.

Does the alabaster pattern vary between fittings?

Yes. Each cylinder is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, colour bands and translucency differ between individual pieces. When ordering a pair for either side of a bed or mirror, expect each shade to show its own marbling rather than a matched pattern.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Wipe the shade with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Alabaster is porous and softer than marble, so avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners. For more stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry the surface afterwards.
