Description
The Marina Guard is a small circular bulkhead light with a solid brass body in a raw brass finish. Its frosted glass sits behind a grid guard of crossed brass bars, set in a round bezel held by three cross-head screws, and the frosted glass softens the light from the lamp into an even glow rather than a bare point of light. It is compact, 14cm across and 5cm deep, and weighs 0.86KG. The rating is IP64, which settles the big question for an outdoor light: it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors in British weather, rain and all.
It suits a front door, a porch, a garden wall or a boathouse, and at this size it fits where a larger lantern would crowd the wall. The maker says it is often chosen where a number of low level lights are needed, and for public and commercial spaces, because a screwdriver is needed to change the bulb. The round bezel and grid guard give it the look of a ship's bulkhead. The maker says the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names, and that its bulkheads are designed for outdoor places that call for an industrial or nautical effect. With IP64 it may also suit a bathroom; a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.
Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so expect the raw brass to deepen over the seasons into a softer, older tone. The cable enters at the rear, so no cable runs across the face of the wall. It takes one G9 lamp of up to 25W, and the lamp is not included, so have one ready before it is fitted. As a mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician. Since the bezel is screwed in place, keep a small cross-head screwdriver with your spare G9 lamps.

Frequently Asked
Can the Marina Guard bulkhead go outside?
Yes. It is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it is made to live outdoors on a wall in British weather.
What bulb does it take?
It takes one G9 lamp of up to 25W. The lamp is not included, so you will need one ready before the light is fitted.
How big is the light?
It is a small light, 14cm across and 5cm deep, and it weighs 0.86KG, so it sits neatly on a porch wall or beside a door.
Will the raw brass finish change colour outdoors?
Yes, over time. Solid brass naturally darkens and mellows outdoors, so the raw brass will deepen into a softer, older tone over the seasons.
Do I need a tool to change the bulb?
The maker says a screwdriver is needed to replace the bulb, since the bezel over the frosted glass is held in place by three screws.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
With its IP64 rating it may suit a bathroom as well as outdoors; a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.
