Description

The Marietta S/32 is an outdoor pendant light with a wide, dome-shaped white shade, pleated all the way round and flaring out to a broad rim, hung from a narrow white neck on a black cable. The shade is 31.5cm across and 15.6cm tall, and the fitting has an overall height of 200cm. Inside sits an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change: it draws 8W and gives 554lm of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 80, glowing softly through the pleats and more brightly from the open base. It is TRIAC dimmable, so pair it with a compatible dimmer to soften it in the evening.

Rated IP66, it is made for outdoor use, so it can hang from a pergola, under a covered terrace or over a garden dining spot, and it is just as at home indoors in a dining room or living room. Several hung in a row over a long table give summer meals outside a relaxed, café feel, while a single one brings a warm centre to a courtyard after dark. At 31.5cm across it is generous without being heavy on the eye, so it works well over a small dining table or grouped in twos and threes.

It is made from medium density polyethylene and aluminium in a white finish, and its IP66 rating means it is dust-tight and protected against powerful jets of water, which is why it can live outside. The canopy is a neat 12cm across and 4cm tall. It runs on 230V mains and is a Class I fitting, and it is for a qualified electrician to wire in to the mains, whether it hangs indoors or out. With the LED built in, there is no bulb to reach up and replace later, a help when it hangs high over a terrace or a long garden table.
