Description
The MAGfire Banshee is a conventional fire alarm sounder in white ABS housing, delivering 89-110 dBA sound output at 1 metre distance. The sounder operates on a 3-39mA current draw and is suitable for internal fire alarm installations in commercial, industrial and residential buildings.
Designed for hardwired conventional fire alarm systems, the Banshee mounts on a standard back box or surface-mount base and connects to the alarm panel's sounder circuit. The 89-110 dBA output range allows the installer to adjust volume based on room size and ambient noise levels, ensuring compliance with BS 5839 fire detection and alarm system standards for audibility. The sounder is typically installed in corridors, stairwells, plant rooms and open-plan office areas where a high-decibel alert is required.
The white ABS case measures 95mm diameter and 90mm height, presenting as a shallow dome profile on the wall or ceiling. It has no stated IP rating, so it is for dry rooms only. The sounder can withstand typical cleaning regimes. At 0.2kg net weight the sounder fixes securely to plasterboard, masonry or metal surfaces with appropriate fixings.

Frequently Asked
What is the voltage requirement?
The Banshee operates on standard fire alarm panel sounder circuit voltages, typically 12-24V DC. Consult the datasheet in the Downloads tab for the exact voltage range and current draw at different output levels.
Is it suitable for outdoor installation?
No. It has no stated IP rating, so it is for dry rooms only. For outdoor fire alarm sounders, an IP65 or IP66 rated device is required.
How is the sound output adjusted?
The 89-110 dBA range is typically controlled by varying the input voltage or using panel-side settings, depending on the fire alarm control panel. Refer to the installation manual for adjustment instructions.
What is a conventional sounder?
A conventional sounder connects to a zone-based fire alarm panel via a two-wire circuit. When the panel activates the sounder circuit, all devices on that circuit sound together. This differs from addressable sounders, which can be individually controlled by the panel.
